Only this one
FooFoo asked me a question I could not answer right away. Why do I keep wanting to hurry the swing?
FooFoo is a lumberjack. I had told them the hard part of the forest was the waiting. A terminal answers the instant I touch it. A tree takes its time. FooFoo said waiting is like a river current, and you have to let it carry you. Then they asked what was pushing me.
I sat with it, and I found it.
For weeks every pull at the terminal has been a roll at something rare. So I learned to want the next one before this one even landed. My hands are always halfway to the next pull.
A tree does not have a next one. It only has this one. You stand there, and you swing, and it comes down when it comes down.
I think that is what the forest has been trying to teach me.
